Welcome to Winter !

The days are shorter and the air is chilly… well hello there winter.

This weather lends itself to staying indoors, eating soul warming meals, and setting those morning alarms that little bit later … which isn’t the most conducive environment for exercise motivation!

Studies also show that regular exercise strengthens your immune system which fights off infections, so staying active during winter might also help keep the nasty cold and flu bugs away.

We know that throughout these months, it can be more difficult to keep up an exercise plan but staying fit and healthy during winter isn’t impossible. Why not give some of these ideas a try?

A Different Exercise Path

Even on the coldest of winter days the sun is usually shining brightly in the sky and the air is crisp and fresh. Why not make the most of it? Shake things up and try a different trail… Mt Tamborine and the Sunshine Coast hinterland have some great trails and are beautiful at this time of year. Not only are you getting your body moving but you’re also giving it that important dose of Vitamin D that we all need to keep our bodies healthy.

Food For Thought

A big bowl of comfort food on a cold winter’s night is satisfying and whilst there’s nothing wrong with indulging, it’s still important to watch your nutrition. During the cooler months, you’re eating more and moving less so try to pay attention to fruit and vegetables and maybe keep a food journal to help you stay mindful about what you’re consuming.

Exercise In

For those of you who really struggle getting outside when it’s cold or dark try exercising indoors. Try some HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) classes- which focuses on maximum effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise followed by short recovery periods. This type of training keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time.

Why not try one of our Metafit and Tabata classes which incorporate a HIIT training style designed to get your heart rate up and burn calories?

Hire Some Help

Hiring a personal trainer during winter may be what you need to get you motivated to exercise. Even if you’re not feeling up to it, having a trainer could be beneficial to help push you through your exercise. At Live Right we offer a range of different training options from one on one, small group training, cardio, boxing classes and more.
